Makeup Monday 8/28
Yes, I know it's Wednesday Aug. 31st. lol. Anywho, here is a recap of all the wonderful challenges from last week.
On Tuesday Sandy sent us to the office to pick up a roll packing tape for her technique challenge. All you do is adhere a piece of packing tape to pattern paper, wet and gently rub off paper leaving the pattern behind.....kinda cool eh?
Then on Wednesday Ms. Tamara introduce us to the art of Composition by altering the cutest composition book and book mark.
I told ya it was cute! lol.
On Thursday Ms. Amy asked us to pull out our pens, pencils and markers to create our very own one of a kind fonts.
On Friday Barb took us back in time and had us focus on those old family photos by showing us a couple of pages from a board book she is currently working on.
On Saturday Sandy filled in for Tammy and challenged us to use this simple sketch and two different fonts.
and here is Sandy's beautiful layout.
And we finish out the week with an Inspirational Challenge from Bev. She gave us this gorgeous photo that she snapped in Quebec City back in 2001 to use as our inspiration.
And here is Bev's beautiful layout using the inspiration photo.
And that's it folks! Drop in to see what the design team has in store for you this week!

POTW 8/24/11
Okay, I admit that choosing the POTW is the toughest part of being on the DT here. But it's because there are so many fabulous projects to choose from that I have a hard time choosing just one. However this week when I went into the gallery this project popped right out at me and I knew instantly I was picking it. It's a "Back to School" altered composition Notebook and matching bookmark that Tamara created for her What's New Wednesday Challenge for today. I think with school starting back up already for many kids (mine included) and it about to start for others, it was the perfect pick for this week.
So Congratulations Tamara on having such a fabulous project and being chosen as POTW.

Layout of the Week 08/10
When I saw this layout I was struck immediately by the photo and how well the title Blue represented the photo. I also liked the way the journaling was around the side of the layout and also was on the tag. The papers definitely enhanced the photo and blended well with the dog. A great tribute to Jenny's dog.
Please visit the gallery and give Jenny some love for a job well done

For the month of August, our Blue Plate Specials are going "Back to School"! We started Tuesday with Jo's Art Class, as she challenged us to use paint on our layouts or projects:
Barb's "New School Supplies" challenged us to use our newest scrap purchases:
On Thursday, Nicole's "Geometry Lesson" included a tutorial on making pleated paper shapes:
Sandy's "English class" on Friday required us to write journaling of at least 50 words that answered the five W's (who, what, when, where and why):
We joined Tamara for "P.E. Class" on Sketchy Saturday, with a challenge to use photos of someone enjoying an outdoor activity:
We ended the week Sunday with Amy's "Literature Class", in which she inspired us to use a book cover as inspiration for our layout or project:
If you haven't completed these assignments yet, you won't get a detention! The deadline for completing the August challenges is September 3; and if you complete at least 15 challenges, youre name will go into the drawing for this month's prize -- a DCWV "Street Lace" premium pack. So ... off to study hall ....

Make Up Monday 8/1/11
OMG........... What a fun month with the Blue Plate Specials......we used TV/DVD Movies themes add to our challenges by the Master Chef Team.............
Technique Tuesday with Barb using the movie Mists of Avalon challenged us to get misty on our projects! Use your mists and shimmer sprays (or if you don't have any, then use glitter glue, ink or paint) to add a bit of shine to your project.
What's New Wednesday with Nicole and the movie Ratatouille. Her challenge to you was to use baker's twine on your project and even better maybe some that you made yourself!
Tutorial Thursday with Tammy and the movie Holes. She didn't make us dig any holes for this challenge; however you needed holes of some sort on your project.

Friday Focus with Tamara and the Movie UP and the challenge was to focus on a color combination. Look how many colors it takes to make the "UP" house. Choose three of them and do a layout using the three colors. There are several combos: pink, green, yellow. yellow, blue, pink. Purple, green, yellow...etc. etc.
Sketchy Saturday with Amy and the Movie You've Got Mail. She wanted us to use some sort of MAIL on your layout. Whether it's a note that someone wrote you (emails count ), an actual envelope with your journaling tucked inside or maybe you saved the postage stamps & want to use those as embellies on your LO. She wanted to see your creativity here! And since it's a Sketchy Saturday, here's the sketch she chose:

Inspirational Sunday with Barb and the Movie Clean House. She challenged us to be inspirational and to scraplift your OWN layout! But, the added twist is that you have to change up your design in some way and make it "cleaner".
Sure hope we inspired you some this week.. be sure to join us every week with the Blue Plate Specials.
