Make Up Monday

Welcome to Make Up Monday where this month we've been having a lot of fun with our Back To School Theme.

Cassy started us off with Art Class where we got to play with some paint. In honor of tempera paint, Cassy challenged us to create some paint confetti! This is so simple and so cute. You can use anything small - a pencil eraser, the head of a pin, a small stamp, etc. and dip it in paint to create some confetti. Here is an example that she created using a small stamp that frankly looked just like confetti!

And then we went to Geography Class with Bev. She wanted us to use textures and layers and depth like the lay of the land.. hills, mountains and valleys etc.

Image

Next came Barb with Driver's Ed....that was a scary class! She wanted us to include wheels or gears in some way on our project. If you don't have either of those, then circles are fine.

Image

Now it's off to History Class. Little did I know that history could be so much fun when it came to scrapping. Nowadays, history means aging, distressing and vintage to me.

Image

Jan gave us a list of things to use on our layout just like the list of supplies you get every year before school starts. She also wanted us to use this beautiful sketch by Audrey Yeager from the My Scraps and More blog.

Image

And our list of supplies was:
at least 3 different pattern papers
mist or paint
tag
button
washi tape

And to wrap up our week we went to Science Class with Annie. She wanted us to get in touch with our inner nerd and find some inspiration from four different categories of Science.

Kinetic motion - you can use paint, arrows or other embellishments to show movement on your project.
Heat Energy - you can heat emboss on your project
Cellular Structure - you can use colored circles or large & small circles
Periodic Table - you can use the letter symbols to create a word or just to start a word.

You've still got a whole week to play along with the challenges so grab those pens and pencils and let's go back to school. Each completed challenge earns you one entry into the Dessert Tray prize drawing at the end of the month.

Make up Monday

Make up Monday  at Cookin' Up Creations
and this month we are celebrating with Back 2 School.

We start Technique Tuesday with Barb at Computer Class.
Computers, unlike the old manual typewriters that we used in my day, have a big variety of fonts, type styles, sizes and a whole array of other choices.

For this challenge, I want you to take advantage of all the type styles out there today, and I want you to mix 'em up! Use at least two different font styles and sizes on your project.

What's New Wednesday is Wood Shop with Tracy.
Wood embellishments seem to be all the rage right now so get them out and use them.

Toss Up Thursday with Jan is Something New.
So your challenge today is based on using something NEW. If you belong to a kit club then break it open and use it on today's challenge.

Friday Focus with Annie is School ID.
Get out those school photos and share on a page.

Saturday Sketch  with Jeannie is using Theatre Fun for it's school theme.
The challenge is to use this sketch as your guide and make a lo with a theme of performance
any type silly family get together or a big production on a stage with the big lights and curtain calls

Sunday Inspiration is with Beth is to  use this fun school photo for inspiration.
Use the flollowing picture as your inspiration, colors, groups of children, school building, bus driver, school bus, school project, etc.

Sure hope you enjoyed the fun week of school themed challenges.. be sure to pop on over and
share your creations with us.

Layout of the Week -- 09/11/2013

This week, I chose a layout by Cookin' Up Creations forum member MELODY MILLER as our Layout of the Week.

I loved her treatment of the big 8 x 10 photo, her soft background and multiple mattings. The result is beautiful, simple and sweet.

Please visit the Cookin' Up Creations gallery  to see more fantastic creations by Melody and our other talented members. And be sure to stop by the forum to check out this month's Blue Plate Special challenges. This month's theme is BACK TO SCHOOL, with a new challenge each day. Make - Up Monday 9/2/13

Happy Labor Day everyone!  This weekend is always bittersweet for me as the relaxation of summer seems to wind down and the beginning of a new school year jumps into high gear!  The same is true of this weekend at Cookin' Up Creations.  We end the month of amazing "board game" challenges only to begin a month of "back to school" challenges!  So this week's Make-Up Monday will be short and sweet.

We will end the month of "board games" with an amazing layout by Barb!  She challenges us to use the game of "Go Fish" for inspiration on a layout!
And here is her awesome example:  (Isn't he just adorable???)
And then we begin the month of "back to school" challenges with Tracy's first challenge of the month -  taking us to Music Class.  She challenges us to use something music themed on a layout as she did here:

Remember, we love it when you play along and share your inspirational layouts with us!  An who doesn't love awesome prizes????  Come on!  Play along!  It only takes one completed challenge for a chance to win!
