LOTW 9/26/12 {Annette}

Fall is in the air here in Alabama and I couldn't be happier. It is, after all, my favorite time of the year. So how could I not pick this wonderful Fall layout by Annette for pick of the week. the colors are so warm, and those leaves are amazing. However she had me at those gorgeous photos! Throw in that touch of burlap and those wooden buttons and you have the perfect fall LO.

Wouldn't you agree this is a fabulous Fall LO?

Happy Monday all!  This week our talented ladies came up with some amazing challenges in our Blue Plate Special Forum to inspire some "outdoorsy" feel to your layout.  Here is our wrap-up!

On Tuesday, Sandy challenged you to use at least two different textures on your layout like she did on this beautiful project:
On Wednesday, Barb challenged you to use something floral on a layout.  Here is her inspirational project:
On Toss up Thursday, Michelle challenged everyone to create a different or unique sized layout.  Here is her 6 x 12 layout:
On Friday, Annette challenged you to use leaves on a layout as she did on this Fall themed layout:
Tamara's Sketchy Saturday challenge was to use this Page Maps Sketch to create an "outdoors" themed layout!
And to wrap up the wrap up (Sorry I couldn't resist!) Lisa challenged you to create some layers on your layout and either use a "pumpkin" orange color or pumpkins on your layout.

I hope that you enjoyed all of our challenges and keep working for the coveted Blue Plate Special Prize!!!  You will love it!

I hope that you are enjoying them and have had a chance to do at least a few...
Here is a recap of the past week...
On Tuesday, Michelle gave a great tutorial for recycling metal into embellishments...what a great thing for our environment!!

On Wednesday, Annette asked us to take any old layout that we don't consider finished and add some new touches to it...make sure to post your before and after photos to the link!!  Here is her revised layout...

On Thursday, Tamara asked us to use at least 3 items from our stash that are over 1 year old...come on, I know everyone has some of this stuff!!!

On Friday, Cassy focused on nature and asked us to use photos of nature and to use the word beauty in the title...

On Saturday, Jan used this cute sketch and asked us to use a critter on each of our cards..

On Sunday,  Annie asked us to create a layout based on a first _______. Yep that's right... fill in the blank.  Here is her layout of one of her son's first rides without training wheels..

What a great week of challenges!

Welcome Lisa Rounds to the Challenge Team!!

As most of you already know, I sent out a mass PM this past week looking for an additional member for the Challenge Team...I had several members respond, but I wound up choosing Lisa to join the current Challenge Team Members here at Cookin' up Creations.

Please help me welcome her into her new position and offer a huge Congratulations to her as well! We're all looking forward to getting to know her a bit better and seeing what she has in store for us with her upcoming challenges and ideas!

Welcome to the Cookin' up Creations Challenge Team Lisa !

And here's a little bit about her as well....

Hello everyone! I am soooo excited to be a part of the Cookin' Up team! I am anxious to get to know you all, and see what beautiful pieces of art you create!!
Here is a little bit about me! My name is Lisa, or Scrapadoodler on the boards. I am a SAHM(love my job!), married and have two beautiful little girls ages 9 and 4, and we have a cat named Ginger that thinks she owns the house, lol! Our family just recently moved to Pa. the day after Christmas this past year......and just in the past month we have finally found a place that we can call home as well. I am sooooo excited to start decorating for the holidays and start making memories in this house! Since we moved to Pa., I haven't been scrapping a whole lot or doing anything crafty.....due to living in a very small trailer and not having the room for anything! I am so ready to start being creative again! I would say my scrapping style is very simplistic and linear......sometimes it can be very detailed or colorful....I LOVE COLORS!!
I also love McDonald's Frappes (sooooo addicting sometimes...gotta be careful!), Mountain Dew, photography (I have a fb page if you'd like to check it out!), organizing and bargain shopping, spending time with my family, facebook (maybe a little too much somedays!), Pinterest (same as facebook, lol!), and decorating. Again, I am so glad to be a part of this team and I hope to make you all proud!

LOTW - Kimmer!!!!!

When looking through the gallery this week, I was amazed by the all the great layouts and projects posted!!  But what really caught my eye was this card by Kimmer....
which she completed as part of the Ribbon challenge on Sept 4th.

The saying, the cute little owl, the embossing, the clip, the ribbon...I could go on and on!!!

You can see this card and her other cute projects in the gallery here...

Make Up Monday 9/10/2012

It's Make Up Monday again -- and here's a look back at the past week's Blue Plate Special challenges. We're celebrating "Back to Nature -- the Great Outdoors" all this month on the Cookin' Up Creations forum, with a new challenge each day.

Tamara started off the week on Technique Tuesday with a "20 ways to use ribbon" link and a challenge to use at least two different ribbons on our projects. She gave us this example:

On What's New Wednesday, Annette asked us to feature something "new" in our area for fall -- changing of the leaves, start of a new school year, etc. Here is her own layout:

Toss Up Thursday brought us a misted burlap how-to and challenge from Cassy. She gave us this layout using flowers created from burlap and then misted with spray ink:

Friday's Focus was brought to us by Annie, who asked us to feature an activity from our own back yard. Here is her example:

Jo brought us Sketchy Saturday, featuring a sketch from PageMaps. Her challenge was to use the sketch and something that goes "up in the air", such as balloons, birds, clouds, etc. Her own layout used butterflies. The sketch featured balloons:

And our Sunday Inspiration from Sandy was to use nature's colors of brown (earth), blue (sky) and green (plants and grass) on our project. Here is her layout using that inspirational color theme:

The fun is continuing this week on the forum -- be sure to join us! If you complete at least 15 of the September challenges by October 3, your name will be entered into a drawing to win our Dessert Tray prize -- a $25 gift certificate from Flying Unicorn, along with free shipping. So be sure to join us!

This layout just stood out to me this morning when I was selecting the LOTW. I like the colors and the crisp look it has. Nice job Patti! - chosen by Annette

Make Up Monday 9/3/2012

The Blue Plate Specials on the Cookin' Up Creations forum have been fantastic during the past week! We finished up our August theme, "The Amusement Park", during the first part of the week.

On Technique Tuesday, Cassy gave us a color challenge combined with a herringbone technique. She made two beautiful cards as illustration:

Annie's What's New Wednesday challenge, she focused on park entrances. Here is her creative sample layout:

Jo's Toss Up Thursday challenge paid tribute to her parental efforts to "keep things even" among her children, making sure each had the same amount to spends, etc at the amusement park. Her challenge was to use more than two photos of the same size. She created this layout as an example:

Sandy's Focus Friday challenge featured that last mad dash to cram in all the rides, games and activities at the park. Her "no time to waste" challenge gave us three layouts, and we needed to scraplift one aspect from EACH one. Here's her lovely example:

Saturday was September 1 -- and with a new month, we started a new theme. The September theme is "Back to Nature -- The Great Outdoors".

Michelle kicked off the September challenges on Sketchy Saturday with a PageMaps sketch and the challenge to use the word "Explore" in the title. Here's her example:

Barb's Sunday Inspiration challenge was to draw inspiration from sand and water. Here is her layout:

Join us on the forum and get in on the fun -- there's a new challenge each day! And if you complete at least 15 of the challenges for the month, your name goes into the drawing for a lovely prize.

See you on the forum!
