Happy Monday everyone. I hope that you all have been able to rest up this past weekend and are ready to face a new week. I know most people don't enjoy Mondays, however, the way I look at it is it's a fresh start and I can choose to make the best of it, or let the dread of Monday start the week off in a gloomy mood. Plus, it's a refresher day here at Cookin' Up Creations and we get the day to catch up on some challenges we may not have had the time to complete yet. So without further ado, let's get started...
On Tuesday the 9th, Tamara challenged us to revisit the 80's TV Show Trapper John, MD by using Burlap is some way on our project. She couldn't find any burlap in her stash so she even created her own. It looked so Awesome I couldn't even tell it was homemade burlap. Doesn't her Burlap look awesome:
Moving on to What's new Wednesday for 10/10/12, Michelle brought us back to those wonderful charms that were so popular in the 80's. I myself remember having a shirt that had this charms hanging around the front neckline of them. It was on of my favorites. On Wednesday she challenged us to pull out some charms and use them on our project. She shared with us two fantastic cards she had made using charms:
For Toss-Up Thursday, Cassy brought us back to those popular 80's phrases like totally, rad and gnarly and challenges us to use an 80's term in a thought bubble. She did an amazing job on her inspiration layout and turned the negative cutout of the word into her thought bubble. Very Clever indeed!
Heading into the start of the weekend, on Friday, Jo shifts the focus onto Concert T-Shirts. She pointed out that most of the concert t-shirts from the 80's were black. So she challenges us to use use a black background on our projects for this challenge. Here is here layout, which really pops on that black background:
Ah, Finally we reach Saturday. And it's my favorite challenge of the week...the sketch challenge. This week, Annie presented us with this great sketch from Creative Scrappers:
And challenges us to use the sketch, as well as layering. However she is giving away a small prize as a bonus. All you have to do to have a chance at that prize is to make one of your layers textured and use bright or neon colors on your layout.
Because of a sick furbaby, she didn't get to share her layout with us yet, but she should be getting it uploaded over in the post for this challenge soon so make sure you check back there to see her inspiration piece.
And now for Sunday. This week, Barb takes us back to that ever so popular phone number, 867-5309, that belonged to some girl named Jenny. And that is where we are to find our inspiration this week. Barb challenges us to use numbers somewhere, somehow on our project. Whether we choose to use stickers, patterned paper, or embellishments with numbers on it, she wants to see numbers somewhere. Here is Barb's always fabulous layout:
Now that you have been reminded of the great challenges this week, I hope you can find sometime today to work on all those missed challenges. And remember that you have through November 3rd to get your things uploaded and linked back in the appropriate threads for them to count.
