Layout of the Week for September 30th

This was chosen by our Design Team Member Patti, and she chose a layout by Penny.

Patti said - I love how the focus in on that gorgeous yellow rose and the journaling says so much in just a few words. Congrats, Penny, on a beautiful LO and it being chosen as our featured one this week.

Please come on over and Congratulate Penny and leave her some much deserved love in the gallery.

Michelle Crumby - Our Chef of the Month for September 2009

Cookin' Up Creations is pleased to announce our September "Chef of the Month" is . . .

Michelle Crumby (scrappyshel). She is an Outstanding Member of the Cookin' up Creations community and for that we want to thank her!! Michelle has been quite active within our community and has shared numerous creations with us in the gallery. She has completely rawked the August "Use Your Stash" Challenge, is here almost daily in the forums, and continuously does the challenges/sketches that are posted on the board!

Please help me Congratulate Michelle as our Chef of the Month for September 2009!

Short Bio
I'm Michelle Crumby, I'm 37, I live in Columbia, Missouri (home of the University of Missouri!). I'm mom to Nathan (6) and Emily (almost 5) and wife to Dave (11 years on Christmas day). For work, I am a nurse manager on a 40 bed inpatient surgical unit. I've been in this position for about 6 months now, but on the same floor for 3 1/2 years. I'm planning on starting a PhD in Nursing program in October... so, if I disappear... that's why!

How long have you been scrapbooking?
I started scrapping when I was pregnant with Nathan... so almost 7 years now.

What are your favorite techniques and products?
Oh, I just love all kinds of products!!! I am pretty minimal when it comes to techniques, but I do like my ink, doodling, and tearing too. Product wise... hmmmm... I have a strange addiction to stickles, I love brights and bolds... think Scenic Route, Basic Grey, and Cherry Arte... but I don't discriminate! If I like it, I must have it!! Oh, and I just ADORE Bazzill CS... especially the embossed stuff and dotted swiss!

What other hobbies are you involved in besides scrapbooking?
Well... not much :) I do read from time to time and enjoy mystery/drama/legal/police type things... Patricia Cornwell, Faye Kellerman, Jonathan Kellerman, Sue Grafton, and Janet Evanovich are some of my favorites.

Are there any Designers that inspire you?
Tim Holtz.... SWOON!! He has more creativity and talent in his little pinky than I do in my whole body!

What project are you working on now?
I'm working on making a page for each of my staff members (around 55 or so). I'm putting them up on the wall on my unit. I've gotten some fantastic responses.. it's pretty cool. I think I have 10-11 done... so I have a long way to go!

Can you describe your scrapping space and share a photo.

I have my own room... but I do share a little with my kids. I scrap sitting. I have a dining room table in the middle of my room that I use to scrap on. Besides that, I have several storage things... nothing consistent. I would LOVE LOVE to have built in cabinets and shelves...ahhhh, some day! Soon, however, I'm probably going to revise the room a bit to accomodate a learning environment for myself, but still leave a scrappy area as well.

Please share with us your all time favorite layout and why.
This topic comes up from time to time and I can never ever choose.... I have so many layouts that I love for one reason or another.... some may be pretty strong in the journaling or the actual event (like my kids' birth pages).. but others are just great (to me) for the photo or for the design. SO, long story short, I don't have any favorites!
