POTW 3/28/12 {Jan}

Okay, first off I was drawn to this LO because of how beautiful it is. I love the soft colors and the over-all design. Then I actually saw what the photo is. I think I have gained back the few lbs I have lost the last week and a half looking at that delightful cupcake! Seriously, my mouth is watering.

Congrats Jan on being POTW!

LOTW-3/21/12 Cassy

The gallery here at Cookin Up is filled to the brim with fantastic layouts! So much inspiration there! I knew before I went looking for the LOTW that I was going to have a hard time and I was right!
I kept coming back to Cassy's layout that she created for the Tuesday March 13 Sunburst Challenge.

I really liked how she made it work for her and how she added the scrunched up paper under the photo's. (I loved it because I had a hard time with it and she made her's beautiful!)

So let's all give Cassy some love here in the gallery.

Make Up Monday -- March 19, 2012

We enjoyed another outstanding week of Blue Plate Special challenges last week here at Cookin' Up Creations!  And as we complete challenges, we are gathering clues to solve the mystery "Who killed Mr. Boddy???" in CLUE -- the Scrap Game. Come and play along! You have until April 3 to complete the March challenges and solve the mystery.

We started out on Technique Tuesday with Jan's challenge to use the colors of the GLUE game board and to create a sunburst pattern on our projects. Here is Jan's beautiful example:

With a nod to "Mrs. White", Tamara challenged us on What's New Wednesday to use .... what else?? -- WHITE SPACE! -- and to scrap something new. She created this layout of her "new" grandson and his parents:

On Toss Up Thursday, Jo asked us to use the color red and to use an embellishment that we've owned for more than six months, in honor of "Miss Scarlett". Here is her beautiful layout:

Sandy turned her attention to the game board itself for "Friday's Focus". She challenged us to use at least three squares on our projects. She created this layout as an example:

On Sketchy Saturday, Patti asked us to examine the LAYERS of evidence and make sure our verdict STICKS ... by using layers and stickers along with the sketch. Here is her outstanding example:

We finished up the week with Rebecca's "Inspiration Sunday" challenge to create a project about someone playing a game. She created this game layout:

Remember .... there are a total of 15 clues to help you solve the murder mystery, but no one (except Tammy) knows which challenges will "give you a clue". So, the more challenges you complete, the more chances you have of getting clues and solving the mystery. There is a prize for the detective who solves the murder; and if you complete 15 or more challenges, your name goes into the drawing for this month's Dessert Tray prize.

So .... start scrapping, start sleuthing, and good luck to all!

LOTW -- 3/14/2012 -- ScrappinVT (Pat)

Our Chef of the Month and CROP CHEF winner, Linda, chose this week's Layout of the Week:

"It was so HARD for me to pick ONE layout for layout of the week!  I had about 10 that I really loved. But I picked this one by Pat (ScrappinVT).  I am a sucker for a great photo, and this one of Maddox is adorable. I really like the chicken wire and burlap elements too, as well as the ephemera and the banner.  I like the use of these elements and the "white space."   Really beautiful LO!

Fabulous job!!!!"

Just a reminder -- we're playing CLUE this month with our Blue Plate Special challenges. Come on over to the forum and play along with us!

Tuesday...
was all about Mr. Green and being smooth. Rebecca challenged us to sand or wrinkle and smooth out an element on our projects. She created this wonderful LO.

Thursday....
Jeannie challenged us to create corridors or hallways on our projects. Here is her beautiful LO.

Friday....
was all about Mrs. Peacock and feathers. Barb created these amazing cards and challenged us to use feathers on our projects.

Saturday....
is sketch time. Bev created a great sketch and gave us the challenge to use it with the additional elements of 4 colors from the character's names, twine, and journaling strips. Here is her sketch and LO.

Sunday....
as a close to the week's challenges Linda challenged us to create a project focusing on a life altering event. Her is her inspiring LO.

Jeannie started us off with Technique Tuesday and Glitter. Here's her sparkly project.
For What's New Wednesday Natalia challenged us to use our newest tool and create a project with double sided paper. She made these two cards.
Toss Up Thursday started a new month and a game of Clue. Jan brought us our first challenge featuring the billards room and a project that included nine patterned papers, circles, and a tag.
Friday's Focus was to create a "score card". Jo gave us the challenge to use a list on our projects.
Amy honored Professor Plum with her LO. She gave us this two page sketch to lift along with the challenge to use purple.
Inspirational Sunday was brought to us by Tamara. She let us know that it was done by Col. Mustard in the Conservatory with the rope which translated to use the color of mustard, flowers and baker's twine.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to check out our challenges. You can find these and many more at cookinupcreations.com

Clue - The Scrap Game

In the Beginning....

It is a dark and stormy night. After a long drive you finally approach the front door of the Hill House Manor. You ring the doorbell and a rather large kinda creepy man answers. “Welcome to the Hill House” he mutters “they are waiting for you.” The butler leads you to the lounge where Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Colonel Mustard & Mrs. Peacock are sitting nervously. You look around and Professor Plum pipes up. “Someone killed Mr. Boddy our host”. You begin to look at everyone in the room; it is your job to find out who killed Mr. Boddy, Where he was killed and with what weapon.

Most of you have played the clue board game before. This game works a lot like that, BUT in order for you to receive clues you will need to complete the challenges posted daily. Not all days have been assigned clues....so you'll need to do as many as you can in order to get those clues. Each evening I will check the challenges completed and all you have to do is sit back and wait for your clue to be pm’d to you.

The more challenges you complete the more clues you receive. The first person to solve the crime wins. In case of a tie we will draw for a winner. Each person will get one chance to guess so make sure you have collected all your clues.

Good Luck Detective!
