LOTW.... what a hard task this is!

Picking something from the gallery for LOTW is so hard. The gallery is full of amazing, inspiring and creative projects. I chose this piece.... by LynnerPH.
I loved the simplicity but also at the same time the details. The matting added so much colour depth, the trees are adorable, the great title, the variety of shapes and the cute accents. Congrats on LOTW and be sure to check out her other gallery postings.

Make Up Monday 9-26-2011

This week we continued to honor some wonderful ladies who have influenced us in different ways...

On Tuesday,  Sandy gave us Nellie Olsen as our inspiration and asked us to dress up our ribbons with stamping, markers, paint or mist:

On Wednesday, Amy asked us to channel Martha Stewart and use a bunch of any punch to decorate our layout or cards:

On Thursday, Bev asked us to make some fussy cuts like Dorothy Hamill:

On Friday, Barb challenged us to be big and bold with colors and patterns like circus performer Mabel Stark:

On Saturday, Tammy asked us to use this sketch and remember Judy Garland's famous line" there's no place like home".  She asked us to do a layout based on the most important person in our home...US!!

and on Sunday, Jan asked us to pick one of Georgia O'Keefe's paintings as our inspiration and use paint somewhere on our layouts.

Also this week, we were given the special Hors de houevres challenge of scraplifting this layout by Cassy:

Make sure you try out these challenges and the others on the Menu this month for the chance at a fabulous prize from Stampin' Up!

LOTW--9/14--Kimmer!

Like everyone always says.....I had a hard time choosing just ONE favorite to spotlight this week. There are so many awesome LOs in the gallery! But my eye was drawn immediately to this beautiful LO by Kimmer. I love the vintagey feel of the patterned paper, her button border is way cool, but I think my favorite part is that stitching...outlining the clouds! It adds SO much to her LO! WTG, Kimmer!!

Make-Up Monday September 12, 2011

What a fun week we had with our Famous Ladies. I am so loving all of the fabulous things you talented girls are coming up with. This is such a fun group that extends my creativity beyond anything imaginable. I have such great pages thanks to the many of you who have contributed so many great ideas.

On Tuesday we started the week with a female artist Tamara de Lempicka. Bev taught us how to use amazing flourishes and stitching on our layouts

Wednesday we learned about Sacajawea, Jan challenged us to use a one word title, this sketch as your guide

a landscape photograph and something new from your latest scrapbook purchase.

Thursday we had Pioneer Women shape our world as we learned about using muslin flowers on our layouts. We hope you were thrifty and enjoyed this challenge by Jo.

Fridays Focus this week concentrated on Beading on cards with Karen.

Saturdays Sketch was brought to us by Nicole. She shared with us Aubrey Hepburn and some of her movies.

Today's Challenge we are going to be inspired by some of her best known movies...
Breakfast at Tiffany's- bling
Roman Holiday- Black and White picture
Love in the Afternoon- Picture of someone that you love
My Fair Lady- Flowers
Funny Face- Use the color pink

Layout of the Week - Melody Miller

I have to admit, that like for others, having to pick the Layout of the Week is really a struggle! There are so many (and I do mean many) deserving projects in the gallery that it's just sooooo very hard to pick just one!

I wound up going with my first instinct this morning and choosing this absolutely adorable layout by Melody Miller....look how soft and pretty it is....I love everything about it. I love her take on the sketch, her paper choice, her lacey punched border, her banner, and the beautiful picture of her grand-daughter Savannah. Don't you all agree?

Congratulations Melody Miller on having the Layout of the Week at Cookin' up Creations!

Make Up Monday -- Labor Day, September 5, 2011!

Happy Monday!

I hope this Labor Day weekend is bringing you some fun, relaxation and maybe a chance to scrap a little. If you're looking for motivation, our Master Chef Challenge Team members certainly have provided that with the past week's Blue Plate Specials.

Our August challenges followed a "Back to School" theme; on Tuesday, August 30, Karen took us back to Art Design class with her border technique challenge and this lovely example:

We finished out the month on Wednesday, August 31 with Jo's "Paper Mache" challenge: to use newsprint or book pages on our layout. She gave us two examples, including this one:

Nicole kicked off our September "Famous Ladies" theme on Tutorial Thursday with Queen Elizabeth of England. Nic's jolly good tutorial was for a yarn rosette; her challenge was to use the word Queen in the title, a handmade flower and a crown on our page. Nic did that beautifully in this layout:

Sandy's Friday Focus was on fellow Alabaman Helen Keller, who learned about her world by feeling things in her hand. Sandy's challenge was all about adding textures to our project. Her own layout used corrugated stars to add that touchable texture:

Tamara's inspiration for Sketchy Saturday was Betsy Ross, the seamstress of the American flag. To celebrate Ms. Ross, Tamara challenged us to use flags or banners and gave us this lovely example:

We ended the week with Amy's Inspirational Sunday challenge featuring her favorite comedienne, Lucille Ball. Amy used an "I Love Lucy" promotional collage as the inspiration for her own  layout and challenged us to do the same. Hers turned out fantastic!

You can check out all of these fun and mojo-motivating challenges in the Blue Plate Specials section on the Cookin' Up Creations Forum!

Have a great Labor Day Monday and a fantastic week!
