Make Up Monday -- Christmas Eve Edition!

Here in Santa's Toyland, the BIG DAY has arrived. It's Christmas Eve, and the elves are scurrying to get everything packed and the reindeer ready for Santa Claus' ride around the world to bring toys to all the good girls and boys.

While Santa makes his list and checks it twice, let's check our list of challenges for the past week:

We started on Technique Tuesday with Tamara's kaleidoscope challenge to cut a photo or image into squares for a kaledoscope effect. Here is her layout:

On What's New Wednesday, Cassy paid tribute to the See 'N Say toy by asking us to include a pie chart and an arrow on our project. Here's her example:

Michelle's Toss Up Thursday challenge asked us to include Santa himself in our project. Here's her example:

Jo asked us to "Paint by Numbers" for this week's Friday Focus. Her challenge is to use paint or chalk on our project in some way. Here's her example:

On Sketchy Saturday, Jan shared this sketch from the Studio Calico blog and asked us to use it for either a layout or card; we also may include a list in honor of "Santa's making a list ...." Here is her layout:

Sandy wrapped up the week with her Sunday Inspiration challenge featuring Raggedy Ann and Andy. She asked us to use red as a dominant color and to include red and white stripes on our projects. Here is her example:

There's still time to join in the fun with our Blue Plate Specials! For every challenge you complete, your name goes into the drawing for our Dessert Tray prize. So pour some egg nog, gather your scrap stuff and join us at Santa's in Toyland. Can't wait to see what you create!

Toys, Toys, and More Toys!

As you know at CUC, this month our Blue Plate Special is Santa's Toyland.  I love the jog down memory land of the special toys that I received as a child and the challenges are just as inspirational.

For Technique Tuesday, Annie was inspired by legos and challenged us to use our tiny paper scraps to create a background for our layouts like she did here:
On What's New Wednesday, Sandy remembered puzzles from her childhood and challenged us to create a puzzle type layout using at least 4 different patterned papers on your project and a current trend this year of using either the color mint, border papers, or a fox on a layout.  Here is her amazing example:
In Toss up Thursday, Barb challenged us to create a layout inspired by musical toys like she did in this cute layout:
For Focus Friday, Annette remembered the game of Yahtzee and challenged us to create a layout with numbers and a score card like she did here:
Tamara was inspired by alphabet blocks and asked us to create a layout based on this sketch from GCD Studios:
AND the layout needed to have lots of squares or blocks in it like she did in this layout titled "Birds of a Feather."
And finally for our Sunday Inspiration, Michelle challenged us to be inspired by paper dolls like these:
and create a project, card, or layout that had a paper piecing on it.  She created these cute cards with some adorable paper piecings:

Remember, each challenge that you complete enters you into a drawing for the final prize this month!  Can't wait to see your beautiful work!  Happy Monday!

LOTW 12/5/12 {Jan}

I have to admit that I LOVE Jan's scrapping style. She uses a lot of clean lines (and that's right up my alley) mixed with a lot of hot trends and to me, that makes her layouts pop in the gallery. This week I am choosing one from the end of last month that she uploaded because to me, the whole thing rocks!

I love how she took the pre-designed BG paper and added her own personal touches to make this layout. Honestly, had she not told us about the paper being pre-designed I would have never even known because it is so Jan's styles.

Congrats Jan on being featured this week!

Welcome to Toy Land

We have now wrapped up all of our fun challenges in November. Our theme was Home is Where the Heart is.  The Design Team gave us some amazing challenges and sample layouts to inspire all of us.

Now, all December long we will be celebrating Toy Land. The challenges for this month will all be based on Toys for past and present.

We hopped on our Pogo Sticks and got things started on----
12/1 - Sketchy Saturday with Michelle. Toys!!!!
She asked us to find inspiration in the sketch below (she found it on What a Beautiful Mess Blog). Along with the memory of the joy and anticipation of Christmas approaching. Hoping that Santa will bring you a Special toy.....You know the one you want so much!

12/2 -- Inspirational Sunday with Jo. Playing by Yourself!!
She asked us to find inspiration in those moments when a love one or even ourselves needs to just be alone and have some quite or maybe not so quite playtime. Whether it's on a phone app like her daughter or maybe with you favorite toy doll, car, or action hero.

Here is her  Lovely Sample layout.
