Make-Up Monday 1/29/12

Happy Monday y'all.  I hope that you guys have been enjoying these challenges to use your stash!  I know even though I haven't gotten a lot done, that I have had a blast.

Don't forget you have until Friday February 3rd to get your projects loaded and linked for the January's challenges so there still plenty of time.

Now, on to the challenges!

On Tuesday, We were challenge by Jeannie to use all those forgotten items you have in the stash like glitter, inks, markers, flocking, eyelets, ect..
She gave us this awesome example LO that she used glitter, flocking and eyelets on:

On Wednesday, Jo challenged us to use one of my personal favorite items!  She challenge us to use any small alphas we have.  EEK!  I LOVE this challenge.
Jo shared a beautiful LO of one of her daughters with a wonderful piece of advice to "Enjoy Life"

When Thursday rolled around, Rebecca was up.  And let me tell you, she challenged us to step out of the box and use a stamping technique she showed us.  She sprayed mists into a bowl and used things like a small measuring cup and the lid to her glue to "stamp" circles on her LO.  And turned out fabulously!

Friday focus was brought to us by the ever fabulous Tamara this week.  She focused on those unusual embellishments we have in our stash such as a mini clothespin, bottle caps, a vacation treasure, 3D items, something sentimental.
Check out her adorable LO using bottle caps:

On Saturday, our fearless leader Tammy challenges us to use scraps.  And she found the perfect sketch for us to do it with too.

And if the sketch intimidates you a bit like it did me at first glance, check out Tammy's example because it will make you think "WOW!" and show you that you can do this sketch:

On our final day of the week, Sunday, Patti challenges us to find inspiration in something we just "happened upon"  in our daily travels and gave us a wonderful LO showcasing some sunflowers:

I hope that you guys have been inspired by the DT in some sort of way this week.  And don't forget there is still plenty of time to get these challenges completed before the February 3rd deadline.

Make Up Monday 1/23/2012

Good Morning everyone and welcome to another Make Up Monday!  How's that stash coming?  Can you see a dent in it yet?  Well maybe a recap of last week’s challenges will help with that.

On Tuesday Jo challenged us to use twine and showed us several ways to incorporate it on to our projects. I love this Christmas layout of Ms. Izzy!

On Wednesday Rebecca challenged us to use tags in a new way on our projects and supplied us with this cute Halloween layout of her boys when they were young.

On Thursday Sandy challenged us to use circles to add a little pop to our pages and supplied us with this handsome layout of her son Blake as inspiration.   You can find the tutorial for the border here.

On Friday Amy had us focus on using up all those left over alphabet letters and supplies us with this clever little piece as inspiration.  WTG Amy!!!

On Saturday Barb challenged us with this sketch she found over at Creative Scrappers.

And this lovely layout of her older daughter’s wedding.  Beautiful layout Barb!

And on Sunday Bev wrapped up the week by challenging us to use 8x10 photos as our inspiration and supplied us with two layouts of her granddaughters. Nice work Bev!!!

Be sure to stop by the forum to see what we have in store for you this week!

LOTW - Kimberly

What I love about this LO is how Kimberly used her picture to tell the story of lost and found, using the negative of the letter in the title to add more interest (great way to stretch your alphas), and her journaling.  Congratulations, Kimberly on a great LO and having the LOTW.  Be sure to leave Kimberly some love in her gallery and while there be sure to view some of her other great work.

Friday's feature -- Artist Trading Cards

Welcome to the new Friday's Feature at Cookin' Up Creations!

Do you love trying out new ideas and techniques? I know I do! On Thursday, Master Chef Challenge Team member Jan gave us a challenge to create Artist Trading Cards (otherwise known as ATCs), either as a stand-alone project or to use on a layout or on cards. Many of us on the Cookin' Up Creations forum had little or no experience with ATCs, so this was indeed a challenge. Jan kindly provided the link to a tutorial, and this beautiful example of her own:

Master Chef Challenge Team member Bev rose to the challenge beautifully:

Forum member Beth created several ATCs for this layout:

To see more examples from forum members, and to join in the challenge yourself, check out the forum thread at http://cookinupcreations.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=108&t=8555&start=10 Our challenge team offers a new challenge each day except Monday; complete at least 15 of the January challenges by Feb. 2 and your name will be put into a drawing for a $20 gift card to the scrapbook kit club or online store of your choice.

Make Up Monday 1-9-12

We are using up our scrappy stash this month and this week's challenges are full of great ideas to do just that!!

On Tuesday, Bev shared a tutorial for an accordian card and a sketch that can be used for cards or layout.  Here is one of her examples...isn't it great??

On Wednesday, Jeannie encouraged us to take those old chipboard pieces, stickers, flowers or embellishments and add glitter, stickles or other bling to make them new again!
For tutorial Thursday, Jan shared a video on how to make Altered Trading Cards (ATC's).  Her example combines stamping and inks:

For Friday's Focus, Rebecca asked us to journal on our layouts.  She shared a special memory on her layout and used her stash to  make this wonderful layout:

For this week's Sketchy Saturday, Tamara shared this sketch by Pamela Young
and used up some of her scrappy goodies to create this cute layout:
And for our Sunday Inspiration, Sandy gave us some photos of some beautiful diamond necklaces and asked us to add some bling to our layouts.

So dig out your old products and create some new projects!!
To qualify for the monthly drawing, please create 1 layout, 2 cards or 4 ATC's.

Layout of the Week - 1/4/12 - Patti Schmitz

I kinda had a few layouts in mind for LOTW this week and wanted to come home and sit down and look at them all again, but before I got that far, Patti had uploaded this absolutely adorable layout of her granddaughter....

I love everything about this layout! Love the title, the colors, the arrangements of the beautiful pictures....but mostly, I love, love the flower and how it matches the headband. Awesome job Patti! Congratulations on having the Layout of the Week.

Please make sure you stop by the gallery here and leave some love for Patti, and while you're there, leave some love for the other SOOOOOO very deserving layouts and creations in the gallery as well!

The first Make Up Monday of 2012!

Good morning and Happy New Year!

I have the honor of bringing you the first Make Up Monday of 2012. We ended the old year and brought in the new with some awesome challenges.

Last Tuesday, Jan brought us a sanding technique. She made this great card to demonstrate:

Karen's Wednesday challenge was to use stick pins on our layout, card or project. Here is one of her lovely examples:

Tamara brought us the Tutorial Thursday challenge. She used her own handwriting on her title for this layout:

Friday's Focus, brought to us by Sandy, challenged us to use two or more different alphas in our titles. Here is her layout:

Our Chef of the Month, Rebecca, brought us the final Sketchy Saturday -- and the final Blue Plate Special! -- of 2011, using this sketch by team member Sandy:

And here is her lovely example:

Amy rang in the New Year with the challenge to weave a background with leftover strips of paper. It was a great way to introcue our January theme of "Out With the Old -- In With the New", which focuses on using our stash. Here is her innovative example:
