Well if you've got the stash, then we've got the Challenges for YOU! The Challenge Team members will be using THEIR stash all month long..... But this January, we're adding a little twist to it.....they'll be scraplifting layouts in our very own Cookin' up Creations Gallery! You'll see how their whittling away their stash in our daily Blue Plate Special Challenges. And you can join us by using up your own stash too! We'll be focusing all month on ways to use what you have to make room for more .... well, stuff! So … we know you have some stash (don't we all) and we know you are eyeing all those new supplies … so join us as we say ScrapLIFT Your Stash....

Make-up Monday - Wrapping up 2013

Well to wrap up the New Year and our December theme of 25 Days of Christmas, we only have a few challenges to share with you.
First off, for our Technique Tuesday, Beth challenged us to use Acetate and Tissue to create this unique effect which could be used in so many ways as she did in this cute sports themed layout.
And finally, in What's New Wednesday, Jeannie challenged us to use our newest item on a layout or project.  Here is an example of Barb using her newest item:
Remember, there is still some time to play.  Can't wait to see how we inspired you!

Make Up Monday 12/23/2013

Well, here we are: It's CHRISTMAS WEEK!

We hope you've been enjoying our "25 Days of Christmas" challenges here on the Cookin' Up Creations forum. Here's a quick recap of the past week's challenges.

We started off the week with Technique Tuesday. Cassy asked us to journal inside a shape. She gave us a lovely example in which she created a star shape and journaled inside of it:

What's New Wednesday brought us Bev's tutorial for making folded and stitched paper ribbon. She challenged us to use our newly created paper ribbon on a project. Bev showed us two cards in which she used this new technique beautifully:

Barb's Toss Up Thursday challenge asked us to use a Christmas message or word art on our projects -- it could be a sticker, patterned paper, stamped, or whatever else we wanted to create. She used messages cut from patterned paper on two cards:

On Focus Friday, Tracy's focus was on adding sparkle and bling to our projects. She gave us this beautiful example:

We do love our Sketchy Saturday challenges, and Jan did not disappoint us! She brought us a fantastic sketch from Pinterest and used it to create this adorable layout of a canine friend:

Annie concluded our week on Sunday Inspiration. She gave us a collage of ornament photos as inspiration to inspire our own projects and asked us either to feature ornaments on our project or to highlight a photo of a favorite ornament. She created this beautiful example:

Watch for new challenges on Tuesday and Wednesday. The deadline for the December challenges is January 3, so you will have a few more days to complete your projects for a chance at the Dessert Tray prize. And we're pleased to announce that in January, we will be offering new challenges every day of the month (except Mondays) instead of stopping at the 25th.

On behalf of the entire Master Chef Challenge Team here at Cookin' Up Creations, I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Make Up Monday 12/16/2013

Cookin' Up Creations challenge team member Beth brings you this week's Make Up Monday!

It is hard to believe it is the middle of December already and Christmas is only 9 days away. Cookin' Up Creations has had an awesome year of fabulous challenges, games, new members, and fantastic gallery posts.  A huge thanks to the Challenge Team and Tammy and Shawn for providing a great site for all of us.

December's theme is "25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS"!

Tracy  posted a card challenge for Tuesday, Dec. 10. Her challenge to you is to make some embossed Christmas cards. You can do either wet or dry embossing. Here are her great samples:

Barb posted an awesome layout for Wednesday, December 11.  She wants you to use one or more photos of decorations in your home. If you have a decoration that's new this year, so much the better. If you have new supplies or a new tool, or have acquired a new technique, use that. We just want to see holiday finery and "something new".

Jan posted our challenge for Thursday, December 12. She would like for you to create a Christmas theme layout using the traditional Christmas colors of red and green

Annie posted the challenge for Friday, December 13. She would like everyone to focus on the fun and silly part of this time of the year.  She  decided to focus on making quick and fun Confetti Shaker Packets for our pages. Here are her samples:

I posted the sketch for Saturday, December 14 in honor of the South Pole being discovered on this day in 1911, we will do a snow/winter LO. Hope you like the LO I picked and here is my sample:

Jeannie posted the challenge for Sunday, December 15. She thought a great challenge is to get into the spirit of YOUR holiday so be inspired with your winter or holiday activities. It could be playing In the snow, traveling to see family, trimming a tree, sleigh rides or what ever your family fun is this time of year.

We hope you love all the great challenges from last week and find some time to play along. The Master Chef Challenge Team at Cookin' Up Creations does not post new challenges from the 26th through the end of the month, to allow you some time to catch up on all the great challenges and earn more entries into the Dessert Tray prize drawing. You always have until at least the third day of the following month to complete the challenges and post them for prize eligibility.

Join us at Cookin' Up Creations and get in on the fun!

Project of the Week 12/4/13 - Robin - aka blondscrapper

In keeping with the Christmas spirit of December and frankly the winter season, this week I chose Robin's beautiful set of cards for the project of the week.  I loved the beautiful white embossed background and simplicity of the addition of the trees.  Very pretty and wintery!  Congrats Robin!

Make Up Monday 12/02/2013

Can you believe it -- this is the beginning of DECEMBER, the last month of 2013! There is so much going on in December: preparations for the holidays, including shopping, cooking, creating; family gatherings and holiday get-togethers; not to mention any weather-related clearing, cleaning and cancellations.

As you know, the Master Chef Challenge Team at Cookin' Up Creations does not post new challenges from the 26th through the end of the month, to allow you some time to catch up on all the great challenges and earn more entries into the Dessert Tray prize drawing. You always have until at least the third day of the following month to complete the challenges and post them for prize eligibility.

December's theme is "25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS"! Our challenge team will bring you challenges based on all aspects of the holiday season. Tracy started us off beautifully on Sunday, December 1, with this photo to use as inspiration for our our layout or other project:

And here is Tracy's stunning layout:

We hope you find some time this month to join us on the Cookin Up Creations forum for what promises to be a fun and inspiring line-up of daily challenges. You can also play BINGO with us if you sign up by December 5 HERE.

Here's to the start of a wonderful holiday season. Have a great week!

Make Up Monday 11/25/2013

We're already heading into the last week of November! We've been celebrating HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS with our Blue Plate Special challenges throughout this month. Here's a recap of last week's challenges:

On Technique Tuesday, Jeannie challenged us to add texture and bling to our embellishments. Here are some poinsettia embellishments that Jeannie beautifully decorated:

On What's New Wednesday, Annie showed us how to make layered embellishments like the store-bought ones that are so popular now. Here are Annie's creations:

And here they are adorning her layout:

Toss Up Thursday's challenge came to us from Beth, who gave us the following recipe:
R: ribbon
E: embellishment
C: cardstock
I: Ink
P: Pattern Paper
E: embellishment

And here is her beautiful example:

Cassy served us some "pumpkin pie spice" for Focus Friday by challenging us to use shades of brown on our projects. Here is her example:

Bev brought this sketch (her own design!) for Sketchy Saturday:

And here is her lovely example layout:

We ended the week with Barb's Sunday Inspiration challenge to use old photos on our projects. Here is her example:

You can still join in the fun! You have until the end of the week to complete the November challenges; each completed project earns you one entry into the Dessert Tray prize drawing. So come on over and get inspired! You will find us at the  Cookin' Up Creations forum.

Make Up Monday 11/18/13

I just love this time of year and this month's theme of Home for the Holidays is just perfect. The projects created by our Challenge Team this past week show that this time of year is all about family and friends. Here's what we've been up to this past week.

Beth started us out on Tuesday and made these very cute note cards and holder and even provided us with the tutorial for them. See the tutorial here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resou ... ecardtote/

Image

On Wednesday, Cassy, challenged us to "cork it up" and use some cork embellishments or paper on our projects.

Image

On Thursday, Bev challenged us to use 2 elements from a list .. any 2 your choice. Use a border, punched accent, cluster, floral, layers, stitches.... and an added twist to do something family and fun in keeping with this months thankful celebration.

Image

On Friday, Barb wanted us to show our own take on abundance. What do you feel an abundance of during this Thanksgiving season? She went very literal, using photos of the abundance of late summer/fall fruit, vegetables, and other homegrown products shown at the farmer's market in Rochester.

Image

On Saturday, Tracy challenged us to use this sketch along with a holiday food theme.

Image

Image

On Sunday, Jan challenge us to use this photo for inspiration.

We've really been enjoying this month's Home for the Holidays theme and hope you have too. I know this is a very busy time of year for everybody but we hope you can spare some time to come join in on the fun!
